STATE OF LOCAL EMERGENCY DECLARED

July 1, 2026

The City of Dauphin has declared a State of Local Emergency following significant rainfall and rapidly worsening flooding throughout the community.

Since the evening of June 28, 2026, Dauphin has received 115mm of rain, with additional rainfall continuing. The unprecedented volume of water has caused widespread flooding on streets and properties while placing extraordinary pressure on the City’s storm, waste, water, and water infrastructure.

Declaring a State of Local Emergency allows the City to access additional emergency resources and coordinate response efforts with the Province of Manitoba as conditions continue to evolve.

Residence are also asked to continue minimizing water use wherever possible. The City’s wastewater system remains under significant strain, and every effort to conserve water helps reduce the demand on the system.

Your safety remains our highest priority. If you are in an immediate danger or require emergency assistance, call 911. If floodwater has entered your home or business, do not enter affected areas where electrical hazards may be present. Shut off power only if it is safe to do so.

The City of Dauphin continues working around the clock to respond to flooding throughout the community and protect critical infrastructure. We are also working closely with the Province of Manitoba to secure additional resources and support as response efforts continue.

The City will continue providing updates as more information becomes available. Residents are encouraged to monitor the City’s, official communication channels for the latest information.

WHAT TO DO BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER A FLOOD

Before a Flood:

  • Prepare a 72-hour emergency kit with essentials.
  • Store valuables and documents in waterproof containers and move them to higher levels.
  • Install or check your sump pump.
  • Make a family emergency plan with contact info and meeting spots.
  • Stay informed via Environment Canada and City of Dauphin updates.

During a Flood:

  • Shut off gas and electricity if instructed.
  • Tune into local radio, City of Dauphin social media, and sign up for Connect, the City’s Emergency Alert System.

After a Flood:

  • Return home only when authorities say it's safe.
  • Avoid floodwater contact – it may be contaminated.
  • Take photos of any damage before starting cleanup.
  • Contact your insurance provider and keep all related receipts.
  • Don’t hesitate to reach out for emotional or mental health support.
