Business Licensing

Whenever you manage a commercial (business) operation or sell products in the City of Dauphin, and don't operate out of a commercially zoned dwelling, you may be required to apply for a Business License. Please contact us for more information or visit us at city hall during regular hours.

Bylaw 10-2023

  • Circuses, Rodeos and similar Shows - $100.00 daily            
  • Fairs - $500.00/event
  • City of Dauphin Resident – Business License
    • Home-Based Business - $150.00/yr
    • Home-Based Business with Conditional Use - $200.00/yr
  • Business License (Sale of Goods and/or Services)
    • Businesses based in the Rural Municipality of Dauphin - $275.00/yr
    • Businesses based in the Parkland Area, comprising of the municipalities of McCreary, Ste. Rose, Gilbert Plains, Grandview, Ethelbert, Roblin (including urban Roblin), Mossey River (including Winnipegosis), and Lakeshore (including Ochre River) - $350.00/yr*
    • Businesses based in all other locations - $500/yr**
  • Extra Fees for Salespeople (for Out of Town Businesses Temporarily in Dauphin) - $100.00/person/yr
  • Seasonal Food Units:
    • Mobile Food Cart - $75.00/yr                  
    • Pedal Food Cart - $75.00/yr                  
    • Motorized Food Unit - $150.00/yr                
  • Charities/Non-Profit Organizations (recognized non-profit charities from within and outside the City of Dauphin)  - No Charge 
  • Non-Profit Organization (locally or from outside City of Dauphin hiring a company or promotional agency) -  No Charge                  
  • Trade Shows/Crafters/Craft Shows/Street Fairs - No Charge 
  • Charge for Operating a Business without a Business License  -  A fine equal to the value of the business license (Minimum fine amount of $250)  

*      SALE OF SERVICE ONLY: For work done where the sale of services/labour component is less than $5,000.00 in a calendar year, a Business may apply for a $100.00 rebate to their Business License fee.  

 **    SALE OF SERVICE ONLY: For work done where the sale of services/labour component is less than $5,000.00 in a calendar year, a Business may apply for a $250.00 rebate to their Business License fee.  

***  While working on behalf of the City of Dauphin, businesses shall be exempt from this licensing requirement.
