DAUPHIN, MB, July 13, 2010 – The Dauphin & District Chamber of Commerce is proud to present its 10th Annual Street Fair on July 29, 2010.  The Street Fair will once again be held at the intersection of Main Street and 3rd Avenue NE.  The annual event transforms Downtown Dauphin to offer an array of musical performances and entertainment, while promoting local business in Dauphin. 

This year the Street Fair Planning Committee is taking on a variety of new initiatives to celebrate the 10th year of what has been a successful decade. For the first time a kolomeyka will be held in the streets at 9:00pm to the live music of Ukrainian band, Sloohai, of Winnipeg, MB.  The traditional Ukrainian kolomeyka encourages people of all ages to show off their dancing skills. 

“The Street Fair is a great way to promote local business in our community, but not only that, it’s also a fun and unique way to kick off Canada’s National Ukrainian Festival weekend,” said Dana Andreasen, Office Manager for the Dauphin & District Chamber of Commerce. 

The entertainment line up will see some new additions as well, such as local stars, Flat Silver, and children’s entertainer, Chris Without the Hat, who won “Best at Kid’s Fringe” at the 2008 Winnipeg Fringe Festival.  This year’s event will also feature a fun-filled battle between local mascots, a trampoline raffle and some well-known community members atop a dunk tank. 

For those who are seasoned Street Fair attendees, some old favourites will be returning, including entertainers Kayla Luky and Chris Barker Band, the infamous baking from Trembowla’s clay ovens and Norman Long’s horse and wagon rides.

“The Dauphin Chamber and the Dauphin Neighborhood Renewal Corporation together have worked very hard to make this one of the best Street Fairs ever.  We want to see the whole community participate,” said Scott Whitmore, Chamber of Commerce President.
