Water Payment Information

We accept: cash, cheque, debit, online/telephone banking, and pre-authorized payments.
We do not accept: credit cards.

Online/Telephone Banking

• As a vendor, we are usually listed as "Dauphin Water" or "Dauphin, City of Water" with most banks.
• Enter all 10 digits or your account number without the decimal. 
• Each time you move, you're issued a new account number. Be sure to update it for online/telephone payments to ensure accurate recording.
• Online payments can take up to 48 hours to reach your account. Please plan ahead.

Pre-Authorization Payments

• Your bill amount is automatically withdrawn on the due date.

• Bills are issued quarterly for the periods ending: March, June, September, and December.
• You are billed the quarterly minimum charge in advance: $95.39 on a standard residential 5/8" meter.
• The minimum charge includes up to 14 m³ of water usage on a standard residential 5/8" meter.
• You are also billed for any usage over 14 m³ from the previous three months as over-consumption on each bill. 

In short: each bill = quarterly minimum (in advance) + any over-consumption charges from the billing quarter. 

• Call the Utility Department at 204-622-3205 before you move to avoid extra charges. Additional charges for consumption may result if we are not notified immediately that you are no longer at the residence.
• Tip: It is advisable to shut the inside water valve when vacating.
• If you are moving to a different residence within the City of Dauphin, you will need to visit City Hall and pay a $55 connection fee to set up service at the new address. 

• Faucets: Check for signs of drips and leaks. 
• Toilet dye test (TEST ALL TOILETS IN THE HOME - YOU CANNOT ALWAYS HEAR A TOILET RUNNING!):

1. Put a few drops of food colouring in the back tank (not the bowl).
2. Wait 2 hours without flushing.
3. If ANY colour shows up in the bowl, you have a leak. Repair or replace as soon as possible. A leak will only get worse with time.

• Outside taps: Ensure they're fully turned off when not in use.
• Meter leak indicator: Your meter is equipped with a leak detection device. Shine a flashlight at the meter head. Your current reading will appear, as well as a dripping faucet icon, should you have a potential leak.
